Behaviour communicates an unmet need
"Beneath every behaviour there is a feeling. And beneath every feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom."
Ashleigh Warner, Psychologist.

Alisa
Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner/ Director
Alisa has worked within the education and disability sectors for over 20 years. Alisa has built a career dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals through positive relationships, behaviour support, and communication and collaboration with others. Drawing on rich experience in both educational and community contexts, Alisa excels at delivering person-centred interventions that foster lasting, positive change.
Throughout her career, Alisa has observed a significant gap in the collaboration, expertise and resource sharing between allied health supports and the education system. This realisation shaped her current mission: to bridge these divides, not only within schools but also between in-home supports and NDIS participants, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life for all involved. Her collaborative approach ensures practical and sustainable strategies, developed in partnership with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Alisa is known for integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to creating supportive environments in which everyone can thrive. Her ongoing pursuit of professional growth ensures herself and the Behaviour Wellbeing team remain at the forefront of best practice in behaviour support and management.
When not working, Alisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, chatting over a meal, or heading to the beach for the day. She also spends lots of time being a busy parent and doing the best she can for those she loves.

Christopher
Behaviour Support Practitioner
My passion for supporting people has driven me to pursue a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability). My work history includes working with complex participants in home and community environments. My primary focus is always participant centred support and advocacy.
Through my work in individual disability support, I found a passion for supporting participants. I help to implement behavioural support plans whilst providing insight from a support worker perspective. This history has helped me to understand the role of the support worker and the intricacies of implementing BSPs.
My natural progression into providing proactive and reactive strategies to support participants has developed into a rewarding career as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.

Stephanie
Administrative Assistant
As an administrative assistant at Behaviour Wellbeing, I leverage my background in youth work to enhance our support for individuals with disabilities. I’m currently also pursuing a master's degree part-time in the Economics of Sustainability.
I am dedicated to improving the quality of life for our participants and am passionate about making a meaningful impact in their lives.

Katie
Behaviour Support Practitioner
As a newly appointed Behaviour Support Practitioner with a background in psychology and a passion for supporting people to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science and an Advanced Diploma in Psychology, which has given me a strong foundation in understanding and analysing human behaviour.
I joined Behaviour Wellbeing in January 2025, and since then, I have been developing behaviour support plans that are not only evidence-based but also deeply person-centred. I approach each individual holistically—because behaviour is never just about risk. It is about the person, their environment, and the many factors that influence how they experience the world. By understanding the function of behaviour, I aim to create strategies that truly support positive change and long-term wellbeing.
I have worked with individuals experiencing complex behaviours, including those with early-onset dementia. That experience has strengthened my commitment to improving the quality of life for older people. I also have an interest in supporting youth and young people to grow in independence, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and achieve their personal goals.
I believe that real and lasting change happens when we also support the people around the individual. That is why I focus on working collaboratively with families, carers, and support teams—educating, upskilling, and empowering them to provide consistent and compassionate care.

Emma
Behaviour Support Practitioner
Hi, my name is Emma, I am a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner at Behaviour Wellbeing SA.
I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and have completed various Positive Behaviour Support modules over the years. I am passionate about empowering individuals to thrive in their daily lives. My professional journey includes working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner since 2020, as well as prior roles in Specialist Support Coordination, working at an autism-specific school and as a support worker providing community access. These roles have given me valuable insight into the complexities of behaviour and the significance of creating tailored, person-centred strategies for support.
I have a particular interest in working with paediatric participants, specifically those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and trauma backgrounds. I also enjoy working with participants with various other backgrounds. I strive to build strong connections with participants and their support systems - including families, support staff, school/childcare staff by fostering open communication and collaboration. My goal is to develop proactive, evidence-based strategies that support each participant's unique needs, strengths and interests.
My approach is somewhat personal, informed by my lived experience with disability. This perspective drives me to provide the same compassionate, respectful and thorough care that I would wish for my own family. I prioritise creating a comfortable and supportive environment where participants feel understood and empowered from our very first session. By incorporating personal interests into sessions, I aim to make supports engaging and meaningful, while building rapport and trust.
From a young age, I have been deeply interested by human behaviour, particularly understanding the 'why' behind certain actions. Combined with a strong commitment to social justice and human rights, this passion has shaped me into the practitioner I am today. I look forward to supporting you and your family on your journey toward greater well-being and independence.
